Slats are included
The platform arrives as part of the bed frame setup. It is not an accessory you must add separately.
Brintavo Guide · Mattress support
Usually, no. A platform bed is designed to support a compatible mattress on its own platform or slat system.
What changes
A traditional metal bed frame may rely on a separate box spring or foundation to create a broad surface beneath the mattress. A platform bed handles that job within the frame itself.
On the Brintavo Bed Frame, the mattress-supporting surface is a size-matched plywood slat unit. The outer solid-rubberwood frame holds the platform in place, while support feet beneath the middle help the frame meet the floor evenly.
That means a box spring is not a missing piece. It is simply not required for the bed to perform as designed.
What the mattress rests on
The useful question is not only “Does this bed need a box spring?” It is “What creates continuous, correctly positioned support beneath my mattress?”
For Brintavo, the answer is the included slat unit and its center support layout. Each size receives its own matching structure: Twin uses 9 slats, while Twin XL and Queen use 10. Queen also adds a separate center rail with three adjustable support feet.

The selected size receives its matching slat count and center-support layout.
Check the mattress maker’s required foundation, allowable slat spacing and warranty terms.
Before you skip the box spring
When would someone still consider one?
Some sleepers prefer a higher mattress surface, and some mattress manufacturers specify a particular foundation. Those are reasons to review the total setup—not signs that every platform bed automatically needs a box spring.
Before adding one, check the combined height of the frame, box spring and mattress. Also confirm that the mattress manufacturer permits that foundation type. For most compatible mattresses on the Brintavo platform, the included slat system is the intended support surface.
Quick answers
Yes, when the mattress is compatible with a slatted platform. Check the support and slat-spacing requirements provided by the mattress manufacturer.
Yes. The selected bed-frame size includes its matching plywood slat unit and required hardware. The mattress is not included.
The Brintavo platform already provides the intended support structure. A box spring mainly changes the finished height and may change how the mattress feels. Follow the mattress maker’s foundation guidance before adding one.
No. A platform bed raises the mattress and supports it on an elevated structure. The exact ventilation and support conditions depend on the bed design and the mattress requirements.
